On Saturday, Oct. 17, The Laurel Dance Company will hold a “Stars of Hollywood” Masquerade Fundraiser. The event will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, New Holland from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Guests will walk on the red carpet to enter the ball room, chased by paparazzi. Once inside, guests will find a buffet of hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, entertainment provided by company members and music provided by a live DJ for their dancing pleasure. A silent auction will also be held at this event. Guests must be 14 years of age or older. Costumes and/or masks are optional. To purchase tickets, go to laureldancecomany.wix.com/masqueradeball.
All proceeds will benefit the Laurel Dance Company, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and this year’s production of “The Nutcracker.” The Company is also hopeful to have a “Spring Showcase” in 2016. The Company, currently in residence at Footprints Performing Arts Studio in Ephrata, is in its 10th year of incorporation. During each of those 10 years, LDC has produced a “Nutcracker.” Several of the Company members have been members and performers since the beginning. Many families have more than one family member in the Company, and some of the now ballerinas started with the company as “little party children” dreaming of the day they would be able to perform in Pointe shoes.
