Garden Spot Village invites the public to enjoy outstanding musical entertainment with the return of the community’s popular Saturday Evening Concert Series. The new season opens on Saturday, Nov. 21, with a performance by Break from Blue Collar, a modern barbershop quartet.

“We are thankful to hold this wonderful series once again this season, and look forward to enjoying a variety of performances with our community friends in the upcoming months,” said Colleen Musselman, director of life enrichment at the retirement community.

A barbershop and acapella quartet made up of Zach Bailey, Ben Hallowell, Tyler Hart and Shaun Ressler, Break from Blue Collar’s show is truly unique. Taking classic barbershop arrangements and blending them with the modern sounds of rock ‘n’ roll, their performances are sure to be remembered.

Zach Bailey, tenor, is also a composer who has had a variety of his work performed around Lancaster County, including by the Duke Street Brass. In addition to his role as tenor, he also arranges music for Break from Blue Collar, such as their rendition of “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. A resident of Lancaster County, he graduated from Millersville University in 2012 with a degree in Government and Political Affairs.

Ben Hallowell, lead, graduated from Millersville University in 2010, receiving a B.A. in Music Business and Technology with Honors. Currently, he is employed in Harrisburg as Human Services Program Specialist with the Bureau of Policy in the Office of Income Maintenance. A collaborator with musicians both in Lancaster County and abroad, he also enjoys playing acoustic guitar in addition to performing vocals.

Tyler Hart, baritone, is the music teacher at Wickersham Elementary in the Lancaster school district, receiving a degree in Music Education from Millersville University in 2012. Along with singing in Break from Blue Collar, he is a member of the Parkside Harmony Barbershop Chorus. A performer of percussion instruments as well, he is the instructor for the drum line of the Warwick High School Marching Band.

Shaun Ressler, bass, received degrees in Computer Science and Music Business & Technology from Millersville University in 2011. Currently, he works as a Software Engineer for Cargas Systems. A lover of singing, he also performs with the barbershop group Red Rose Chorus in Lancaster, as well as another quartet, Three Dads and a Lad.

Other upcoming concerts in the series at Garden Spot Village include the Westminster Ringers on Dec. 19; a piano and flute performance by Silver, Wood & Ivory on Jan. 16; Temple Avenue Jazz on Feb. 20; Thompson McConnell & Family performing the bagpipes on Mar. 20; and Portal Percussion on Apr. 18.

All concerts begin at 7 p.m. in the chapel at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Avenue. The concerts are free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted at the door. For more information, call 717-355-6000.
