The Yocum Institute for Arts Education’s Primary Stages Productions will be presenting Ken Ludwig’s “Twas the Night Before Christmas” at the Yocum Institute for Arts Education, starting Saturday, Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. Performances will continue through Dec. 19 on Saturdays at 10 a.m., with added times on Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 19 at 1 p.m.

Written by playwright Ken Ludwig, who has had six shows on Broadway and seven in London’s West End, “Twas the Night Before Christmas” is an adventure that is a hilarious and chaotic mix including rogue elves, a case of mistaken identity, a confused Santa, an elf cheer, sword fighting and the quest for Santa’s “Naughty” and “Nice” lists. Ludwig’s plays and musicals have been performed in more than 30 countries in more than 20 languages. There is no shortage of excitement in this 45 minute play for the whole family, from airplane rides to sword fights to simple holiday cheer. Don’t miss this joyful tribute to the holiday season!

The play begins in a house bedazzled for the holidays (set by Michael Daddario). Uncle Brierly (Jacob Fowler) is attempting to share the traditional version of “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” only to be interrupted by a mouse that is, in fact, stirring… Baking cookies that is. But, the real fun begins when an elf named Calliope (Mamie Covell) comes to verify that this house was indeed skipped by Santa last year! The plot turns, and we discover that Emily (Emily Rothermel) and Amos Mouse (Jordan Eck) were left off of both the “Naughty” and “Nice” lists. It is then that Emily and Amos Mouse are whisked away to the North Pole to save Christmas.

According to Maryland Theatre Guide, the show is sure to be “a grand Christmas adventure, filled with schemes, confrontations, mistaken identities, bravery, and all things naughty and nice!”

This play is produced with permission from Samuel French and directed by Christine Cieplinski, with Assistant Director Jeanette Fotis. Tickets may be purchased by calling 610-376-1576 or online at www.institute-of-arts.org.
