An evening of bluegrass music will be held on Saturday, Jan. 2 at the Fivepointville Fire Hall, Route 897, in Fivepointville.

From central Pennsylvania comes one of the hottest regional bands in bluegrass, Remington Ryde. Remington Ryde was formed as a bluegrass band in 2002 with the sole purpose of promoting bluegrass music throughout the state. They have grown in popularity and host the annual Remington Ryde Bluegrass Festival. They are also one of the busiest regional bands in bluegrass music. They play more than 100 programs a year all over the country, from the east to the west coast, and are loved by festival goers and bluegrass fans.

Remington Ryde’s members are Ryan Frankhouser on lead vocals and guitar; Richard Egolf playing upright bass; Rich Kratzer playing mandolin; and Billy Lee Cox, a national banjo champion who has worked with Charlie Moore, Mac Wiseman and The Country Gentlemen. Greg Moore is the newest member, and what an addition he has been. Greg has been playing fiddle since he was five years old. He dedicates his success to his Grandpa Moore who taught him how to play the fiddle and took him along to Bluegrass festivals. He has played with Junior Sisk and Ramblers Choice, James King Band and also with Melvin Goins, to name a few. Remington Ryde’s strong vocals, powerful instrumentation and energetic stage presence, along with their down to earth personalities, keep people coming back again and again.

Appearing with Remington Ryde will be Chester Johnson & The Foggy Mountain Grass along with Scott Eager. There is a requested donation amount per person, with a lower cost for teens ages 13 to 17. Children 12 and under are admitted free. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the music begins at 6 p.m. Food will be available by the Fivepointville Fire Company.
