An evening of Gospel Bluegrass music featuring Canaan’s Land Bluegrass and The Zepp Family will be held in the Fivepointville Fire Hall, located along Route 897 in Fivepointville, on Saturday, Feb. 6.
Canaan’s Land Bluegrass is committed to providing top notch traditional bluegrass music with a sprinkling of new era sounds. The precise music and tight harmonies provide the audience with the best that bluegrass music has to give. Members include Dave Dulaney, who has played bluegrass and country music for more than 20 years. Dave plays guitar and mandolin and sings lead, tenor and baritone. Steve Waldon has been playing bluegrass since 1998. Steve plays banjo, and he is always trying to come up with new and crazy licks to keep things fun. His banjo style is heavily influenced by Earl Scruggs, Don Reno and Eddie Adcock. Mike Vidmar, on the upright bass, loves to play bluegrass and enjoys playing with a band that has a hard driving sound. Lastly, after 20 years of playing in a variety of bands, Tom Murphy focused on acoustic guitar, mandolin and upright bass. That put him with the other fine musicians in Canaan’s Land.
The Zepp Family Band plays original and traditional bluegrass gospel on guitar, fiddle, bass, mandolin, occasionally banjo and even trumpet. The two sisters and two brothers range in age from 13 to 19 and are the eldest of 10 children. Rebekah is the lead singer/songwriter and plays the acoustic guitar. Bailey plays the fiddle and does the harmony vocals. Noah plays the bass guitar and occasionally adds trumpet and vocals. Shaun completes the band’s sound with leads and rhythm on his mandolin. He also is the writer of the title track of their latest release, “Krossing Kentucky.”
Doors open at 5 p.m. and the music begins at 6 p.m. Food will be available by the Fivepointville Fire Company. There are requested donation amounts per person with a lower donation for teens age 13 to 17, and free for children 12 and under.
