The Reading Public Museum presents “Dinosaurs Around the World,” sponsored locally by McDonald’s, open now, and running until Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016. “Dinosaurs Around the World” takes you back in time on a dinosaur adventure and a tour of an Earth very different from today – a time before the continents as we know them existed, when lush landscapes covered Africa and greenery was the norm in Antarctica! With advanced animatronics, a multi-layered narrative, fossils, authentic casts, cutting-edge research and immersive design elements you’ll experience the Age of Reptiles as it comes to life!

“Dinosaurs Around the World” invites you to grab your prehistoric passport to Pangea and discover how plate tectonics, land bridges, and volcanic activity allowed dinosaurs to disperse to all corners of the globe, giving each of the seven continents its own unique selection of these giant reptiles. During their 172 million year reign, dinosaurs adapted into a variety of forms due to the conditions of the areas in which they lived. The exhibition includes examples such as the mighty T. rex of North America (at Lancaster’s Clipper Stadium, home of the Barnstormers) and the swift Velociraptor of the Gobi Desert, and many others.

In addition to advanced animatronics, “Dinosaurs Around the World” also features information about the geologic time scale, geology, geography and climatology. The exhibition poses questions to the visitor about the reign of the dinosaurs and helps them to discover how dinosaurs lived on each continent, how they interacted with each other, how geography impacted their behavior and diets and what the continents were really like at the time.

“Whether or not you know all the details about these amazing prehistoric animals before coming, you’ll learn what their habits were, where they once roamed and get immersed in their world,” said John G. Smith, Director and CEO of The Museum. “Bring your family and have an adventure with the most realistic dinosaurs activated by the latest animatronic technology.”

Created in collaboration with award-winning Paleontologist Gregory M. Erickson, “Dinosaurs Around the World” provides an immersive educational experience exploring a broad range of topics from the Mesozoic Era. Dr. Erickson is currently the curator for the Florida State University Museum and faculty at Florida State University.

He holds research appointments with the American Museum of Natural History in New York, The Field Museum in Chicago and University of Alaska’s Museum of the North in Fairbanks.
