Two special evenings of music will feature The Travis Wetzel Trio on Saturday, June 25 and the Heart and Soul Bluegrass Band on Sunday, June 26, both at 6 p.m. at St. John Center Lutheran Church’s Music in the Grove.

Travis Wetzel is a dynamic musician. His music includes Celtic, Native American, gospel and country along with Bluegrass music. He is a lead fiddler but you will find him playing the mandolin, guitar and doing vocals. He has worked on countless recording projects and has performed and recorded with artists such as Bill Monroe, Jesse McReynolds, Del McCoury, Doyle Lawson and Mac Wiseman. He now resides in the Nashville, Tennessee area and plays with Jesse McReynolds, performing at bluegrass festivals and on the Grand Ole Opry. He has performed at the Rayburn Building in Washington, D.C. for the House of Representatives with Congressman Ben “Cooter” Jones of the “Dukes of Hazard” fame. He had a lead part in the Johnny Cash musical “Ring of Fire” at the Roxy Theater in Clarksville, Tennessee. Travis can be heard almost every week on The Grand Ole Opry with the legendary Jesse McReynolds. Travis was first introduced on the Opry with Jim & Jesse in October 2002.

Ron Greenstein and Bob Sutor comprise the “Trio.” Ron began his career playing bass for a local band and then moved on to play with the legendary Tanner Brothers, Bucks County Grass, Skoolkil Express and Borderline. He has toured Europe and the U.S. with the Lewis Brothers and currently plays bass with Tom Paxton and The Chad Mitchell Trio. Bob Sutor has been playing five-string banjo for more than 30 years. He is a member of the bluegrass band Borderline. Bob was a cast member in the show “Nashville City Limits” at the American Music Theater, where he played banjo, guitar and dobro. Listen for some hot banjo solos.

Heart and Soul Bluegrass Band has been with us before and are a crowd pleaser. The members are Dave Theurer from Grantville, Jesse Brubacher from Reamstown, Josh Theurer from Grantville and with them on this evening will be Randie Rineer on the fiddle.

Dave will play guitar and do some lead vocals. He has been playing and singing since the age of 10. He was a key member of The Theurer Family Bluegrass Gospel Band. He also had the honor of performing with “The Father of Bluegrass” Bill Monroe. Along with Randie playing the fiddle, Jesse will be playing the uprite bass and Josh will play banjo and guitar, and also sing tenor. There will also be a special guest to help as Dave has recently had heart surgery.

Programs will be outdoors, so bring your lawn chairs. In case of inclement weather, programs will be held indoors. St. John Center Lutheran Church and grove are located along Route #625, a few miles south of Bowmansville at 599 Reading Road, East Earl. There will be sandwiches, drinks and snacks available. Food proceeds are used for the youth to attend the National Lutheran Youth Gathering. A free will offering will also be received.

Come on out to the grove, relax and join us for a weekend of fellowship, good food and great music.
