Rainbow Theatre will celebrate 25 years of presenting children’s theatre in Berks County with “Broadway and Movie Mania,” a celebration of favorite stage and screen musical selections from July 15 through July 17. Performances will take place at the Miller Center on Friday and Saturday, July 15 and 16 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, July 17 at 3 p.m.
“Broadway and Movie Mania” is being produced and directed by Carol Toomey, with musical direction by Kay Wadsworth, choreography by Michele Schartel and Kim Feltenberger, set design by Lisa Sweitzer, lighting design by Brett Buckwalter and costume coordination by Marianne Maciejewski and Maureen Helms.
The cast includes private, public and home school Berks County students ages eight to 18, who will be performing this musical collection of more than 90 popular Broadway and movie musical songs including nearly 40 Disney favorites. For this silver anniversary celebration, Rainbow Theatre alumni have been invited and will join the student cast to make this celebration one that is memorable, magical, musical and not to be missed.
Founded by Carol Toomey and now in its 25th year, Rainbow Theatre is a performing group for students who have an interest in performing and learning about theatre production. Rainbow Theatre has performed in Disney World, at the Pennsylvania State Capitol and on a Royal Caribbean performance cruise to Bermuda, and for local community, school and corporate events. They have been praised for their talent, youthful energy and community spirit.
