Clay On Main, located on Main Street in Oley, is building on their existing schedule of ceramics classes. In addition to their weekday introductory and throwing classes, they are now offering a Saturday afternoon class, Basic Clay, from 12-2 pm. With the recent addition of a glass kiln, the studio is also offering Glass 101 this fall – the first of many classes in the media that the studio plans to offer in the near future. This 4-week class begins Tuesday, Nov. 15, and is limited to six students; students will create a stained glass sun catcher and a fused glass ornament. The studio also offers the community the option of hosting private parties where everyone creates a glass piece together.

For ceramics classes, the studio offers rolling enrollment – so you can hop into a six week class as it fits your schedule, or try out a drop-in class on a one-day basis. The studio has an intimate and relaxed feel, with lots of individualized instruction, and beginners will feel very welcome. In addition, the well-equipped studio and knowledgeable teachers make it a great place for more experienced potters or sculptors to work in a supportive community environment. Clay on Main staff create their own glazes and engobes from raw materials, and raku firings are offered several times a year. Once a month, master potter Linda Austerberry provides an advanced throwing seminar, open to all enrolled students. In addition to class time, currently enrolled students are invited to come in for up to ten hours a week of Open Studio time. Clay on Main also offers gift certificates, so you can treat a loved one to a one-day drop-in class, or a six-week class to be started upon request.

Ceramics and glass classes are just one aspect of what Clay on Main offers; the extensive gallery space is home to a series of high-caliber fine art exhibits; there is a rotating schedule of weekend workshops on specialized visual art techniques; clubs such as the Felting Club, Uke Jam, and Art Talk meet on a monthly basis; and there is a live music venue, Half Moon, showcasing local talent.

Clay on Main is a 501(c) (3) non-profit artists’ cooperative located at 313 Main Street in the historic village of Oley. This working clay studio offers classes, workshops, and gallery space for local artists. A detailed schedule of studio events can be found at www.clayonmain.org or Facebook.
