Julie Longacre is hosting her bi-annual art show on Sunday, Nov. 27, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bally Fire Company in Bally.
This year she is inviting the public to color her world as she debuts a personal book to color, a 2017 calendar to color, as well as various prints where she explores the color of summertime green.
Longacre will be featuring new paintings, new Christmas card, new Christmas tree painting and other prints on canvas.
This past year, one of the concepts she explored on canvas was inukshuk. The inukshuk, stones often arranged in the shape of a person, is global symbolism and basically says ‘we were here,’ Longacre says.
Since the summer was so green, Longacre decided to explore the color of summertime green. She painted a series of 30 paintings. “That was the most concentrated series I ever did with one color.”
She finished the series with a painting from Cape Breton, which is where she also became enamored with the inukshuk.
“I have explored snow in my paintings because I enjoy the contrast.”
Longacre’s show will also include her books and prints.
