So here it is the WTIM of 2016 – We have to thank all of our friends for making our year a great one. A lot of notes have drifted over the staves and out into the atmosphere … Unfortunately the final days of 2015 seemed to be an omen, with the passing of Lemmy Kilmister, for what was to lie ahead for the Rock Community in 2016. This year we said good-bye to David Bowie, Glenn Frey, Keith Emerson, Prince, Leonard Cohen, Leon Russell and George Martin. While their physical bodies may be gone, the profound impact all of these musicians made in the music industry will live forever in the vinyl grooves of their recordings and the hearts of millions of fans. No one knows exactly what 2017 will bring. We can hope, but never know. With that in mind try to do things the way you want, the first time. Give the folks around you the benefit of the doubt. Think about what you say, before you say it and temper, if possible the negative or hurtful outbursts. Practice hard and play like you mean it. Music is a personal journey and your personality is reflected in the notes you play, whether it’s your music or someone else’s, enjoy the journey. You don’t have to share with everyone or anyone the feeling is the same when you feel the music move you. It’s a gift enjoy it. Wishes for health and happiness go out for everyone in the New Year and may it be filled with music.
Do you want to see your band or venue listed here at WTIM send an email to tdietterick@21st-centurymedia.com with the particulars (at least 2 weeks in advance) and we’ll get it out there.
