It’s no seceret that Pennsylvania is home to some of the most famous brand names in the country but some may be surprised to learn our area is also home to some of the best tours of the factories where those products are made.

Whether it’s a family field trip or a couple’s day out, factory tours are a great source of fun, educational entertainment.

Herr’s Snack Factory

Anyone who has ever tried a Herr’s chip is bound to enjoy the Herr’s Snack Factory Tour.

Step inside the factory in Nottingham, Pennsylvania to see real workers producing the chips before they are packaged and sent to grocery stores and vending machines.

Both children and adults can enjoy the educational, technology and logistical aspects of how Herr’s snacks are made but there’s no doubt everyone will love tasting a fresh Herr’s chip right where it’s made.

Yuengling America’s Oldest Brewery

This is a “story of the American Spirit. It’s a tale of shared dreams…”

When David G. Yuengling established the Eagle Brewery on Centre Street in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, in 1829 did he know his beer would be so popular over a century later? It’s possible.

As history tells, the Eagle Brewery would later be destroyed during a fire but two years later, a new brewery was built on Mahantongo Street where it stands today. Visit America’s oldest brewery at 420 Mahantongo St., Pottsville and don’t forget to stock up on growlers or bottled and canned brews before you leave.

Asher’s Chocolates

Take a self-guided tour, including a short movie, to learn about how family-owned Asher’s Chocolates has been making their delicious confections since 1892. Watch chocolate-makers use fresh ingredients during the free tour that begins and ends in a Victorian’s style candy shop.

Martin Guitar Factory

Located at 510 Sycamore Street in Nazareth, Pa., the factory of C. F. Martin & Co., Inc. is where the deep, balanced Martin sound is crafted. Public, private and Behind the Scenes tours are available but ultimate Martin fans may want to try the Take Home a Martin During Your Visit experience.

Be sure to check out the Martin Guitar Museum where over 170 Martin guitars reflect music history.
