It’s a race through the streets of SteelStacks as up to 30 teams fielded by area businesses compete in the first SteelStacks Grand Prix June 18.
Presented by Lehigh Valley Grand Prix and ArtsQuest, this event features four hours of go-kart racing on a course designed by Mike McCreary of Lehigh Valley Grand Prix, a car show, family activities like a Mario Kart gaming tourney, food and more.

Yeah, it’s free and open to the public.
If you’re really revved up, special Pit Row VIP Packages – which include access to food catered by Red Robin, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and the superior seats – are going for $110 in advance and $120 day of the event; $45 in advance for ages 4-20 and $55 day of the event.
When is it?Gates open at 11 a.m. June 18 for the SteelStacks Grand Prix, and it wraps up with an awards ceremony at 4 p.m.

The half-mile track will wind through PNC Plaza before zipping east down First Street, reaching speeds of up to 40 mph on the straightaway. The top teams from each preliminary heat will advance to the finals at 3 p.m., with the first-place-winning team taking home trophies created by the Glass Studio at the Banana Factory. You’ll be able to watch the action trackside, including “grandstands” set up just for the event.
“The region has a rich history of racing from Nazareth Speedway and the local dirt tracks, to well known racing names like the Andrettis and Sage Karam calling the area home,” Lehigh Valley Grand Prix owner Mike McCreary stated in a press release. “SteelStacks is a great location for this event because not only does it offer an ideal layout, the opportunity to race on the former Bethlehem Steel grounds is very exciting. The track itself will be extremely unique due to the venue.”
