Cartooning w/ Ray Lapinski: A 4 part series. July 5, 12-2 p.m. Drawing is a wonderful way to communicate when words don’t do the trick. You’ll learn the basics of cartooning, including basic anatomy, and character development, including dialogue and expressions. Students will create a three page storyboard. Students will bring their own 8″x12″ sketchbook to class; colored pencils, pencils and ink will be provided. The cartooning class is open to all ages, but is an excellent choice for kids and teens. Drawing- Beyond Graphite: A 4 part series w/ Ron Schira. July 5, 5-7 p.m. Drawing Beyond Graphite will provide working artists and novices alike with an opportunity to focus and create in a supportive environment, while benefiting from Mr. Schira’s extensive experience in a wide variety of media and his acute understanding of what makes a drawing work. “Raising Our Voices, a juried exhibition curated by Ray Lapinski: July 9 – Aug. 6. Reception July 9th at 313 Main St. Oley PA 19547. Join us in the Clay on Main galleries as we welcome Ray Lapinski, curator for this show, and the participating artists who are displaying their work within the theme of ‘personality identity’. Ice Cream Social and Open House at Clay on Main: July 15, 1-3PM. Clay on Main will be hosting its annual Ice Cream Social and Open House on Saturday July 15th at the studio at 313 Main Street in the village of Oley from 1 to 3 PM. The social will have activities for all ages. Demonstrations including the pottery wheel, tile making, and sculpture will be going on throughout the day. There will also be hands-on art activities for all ages in the studio. Music will be in the Half Moon Cafe throughout the day. The artwork of talented local young students is currently on display in the studio gallery. The exhibition “Raising our Voices” is curated by local student Ray Lapinski. Volunteers will be giving tours of the building and studio throughout the day. Attendees will have an opportunity to create and take home whimsical miniature gardens using plants and materials supplied by the studio. Flower crowns will also be created for all who would like one. Student artists from the Lehigh Valley Charter Arts High School will be on hand to create caricatures while you wait. Most of all there will be ice cream! Studio volunteers will be serving complimentary cones or bowls to all that attend. Handmade ice cream bowls from the studio will be available for purchase for a small donation. Other pottery items will be available for purchase in the Potter’s Pantry gift gallery. The social and open house will also feature information on classes, workshops, upcoming events, and studio membership. Learn to Crochet Workshop: July 22, 10AM – 12PM. Have you ever wanted to learn to crochet? Crocheting is a portable stress-free hobby that is fun to do. Join instructor Stephanie Stamm and learn to do the chain stitch and single crochet. With this knowledge, you could make a pot holder, scarf or blanket. Granny Squares and double crochet may be covered as well. Please bring a medium size G, or H (5mm) crochet hook, scissors and a skein of medium weight yarn. Saturday 7/22/17 10am to 12. $40.
