BLUE BELL >> Blast off into space – with the help of a 16-inch MEADE Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope – and explore the cosmos during Montgomery County Community College’s free community nights at its research-grade Observatory and Observation Deck.
The College will hold community nights from 8 to 10 p.m. on September 11, October 16 and November 13 during the fall 2017 semester.
The Observatory and Observation Deck are features of the College’s 60,000 square-foot Advanced Technology Center. The Observatory features a 16-inch MEADE Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and several other telescopes on the Observation Deck.
Community nights are free and open to the public, and astronomy clubs and scout troops are welcome. The Observatory is located on the third floor of the Advanced Technology Center, Central Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike in Blue Bell.
The observatory sessions are subject to weather conditions. If the weather is questionable, call the Observatory hotline, 215-641-6460, an hour before the event for information about possible cancellation.
