An awards program manager from Devon will be competing on the enduring ABC-TV quiz show “Jeopardy.”

According to a press release sent from Sony Pictures Television, which produces “Jeopardy,” Sarah Reisert will appear on the Friday Sept. 15 episode, which is scheduled to air at 7 p.m. on WPVI 6-ABC.

“I got pretty lucky. I don’t actually watch ‘Jeopardy’ and I just did it as a lark,” Reisert laughed.

Reisert, who works at the Chemical Heritage Foundation in Philadelphia, was summoned to an in-person audition after taking the online test twice. Thinking her window for being contacted to fly to California had closed in February, she was surprised with call from “Jeopardy” in March, requesting her to fly out Easter weekend. ‘We keep people around we like,’ she was reportedly told.

Host Alex Trebek does not interact with the contestants, except for what you see on TV. However, Reisert said, there are three-minute breaks from filming where Trebek takes questions from the studio audience. “The mustache is gone. He gets a lot of questions about it. There’s an audience that comes in in the morning, and then a different one in the afternoon, and they all want to know about his mustache. He must get really tired of it,” she said.

Reisert thought her fellow contestants didn’t like the selection of the categories they got, but reported “they were all very nice and we’ve been chatting on Facebook this week.”

“Jeopardy” is in its 34th season of syndication. According to Sony Pictures Television, the show draws 23 million viewers each week and won a 2017 Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show – the 34th Emmy overall the show has won.
