Historic Brinton Lodge, in partnership with the in-house brew pub, Hidden River Brewing Co., will host a series of special events in October for Halloween. These include weekly ghost tours, weekly “Toast with a Ghost” tour and tastings, a fascinating presentation on the science of Frankenstein, and the annual Halloween Masquerade Bash. Proceeds benefit the preservation and restoration of Historic Brinton Lodge.
Historic Brinton Lodge has a legendary reputation for being haunted. Stories of supernatural encounters and ghostly apparitions have existed in local lore since at least the 1970s. On a Ghost Tour, guests can tour the 300-year-old mansion and hear the ghost stories and fascinating history of the Lodge, which evolved from a 1700s farmhouse to a Jazz Age gentleman’s club. Ghost Tours are $15 per person and take place select nights in October.
The Halloween “Toast with a Ghost!” includes a ghost tour of the building plus a tasting of craft beer or wine and light snacks. The Toast with a Ghost is $25 per person and takes place at 6:00 p.m. on Sundays in October.
The second annual Halloween Masquerade Bash will take place on Saturday, October 28, from 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. The evening will include live music by Tin Bird Choir (masquerading as Dead Bird Choir), a costume contest, a tarot card reader, belly dancers, an appetizer buffet, a cocktail lounge and more, all set within the hauntingly beautiful rooms of the Lodge. Tickets are $40 per person.
There will also be a series of free events throughout the month, including a presentation by the “Natural Philosopher,” Dean Howarth, who will entertain with a series of demonstrations based on early electrical experiments, some of which included attempts to raise the dead.
Tickets can be purchased online at <www.brintonlodge.com> or in person at Hidden River Brewing Co.
