    The Schuylkill Valley Model Railroad Club has announced several dates for its Annual Model Railroad Open House event.

The Schuylkill Valley Model Railroad Club’s Model Railroad Open House is “fun for kids of all ages.” The trains will be running 1- 5 p.m. on the following weekends: Jan. 6-7, Jan. 13-14, and Jan. 20-21.

During the open house – see and hear freight and passenger trains pulled by steam or diesel engines over 700′ of track. Four different railroads are depicted on the 1,000+ square foot HO scale (1/87) model. The display includes hundreds of buildings, vehicles, people and trees create realistic scenes. Numerous buttons allow visitors to bring scenes to life. Attendees will be able to see Thomas the Tank Engine and try their observation skills with a Scavenger Hunt.

Admission is free; donations will be accepted.

2018 marks the 50th Anniversary of the club’s inception. The building is located at 400 S. Main Street, Phoenixville; diagonally across from the Phoenixville Library.
