If you have an interest in Hollywood like me, then you know that The Academy Awards on March 4 are now history. That means Spring will soon be here even though kids like me got to stay home from school on a snow day just the other week! I chose “Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle” to review because it takes place in a hot jungle, and it kept me warm during the past few cold windy, and snowy days…. maybe it will have the same effect on you until the sun melts the snow and the warmer weather are here to stay.

This movie is a sequel to the original “Jumanji” released in the 1990s.

Since I’m a kid from the 2000s, I wasn’t around for the book or board game that inspired the original movie. The only thing that was familiar to me before I watched this movie was the title “Welcome to the Jungle,” which made me think of the song of the same name by Guns N’ Roses.

I knew that because I was at the Guns N’ Roses concert last year!

Summary: Four kids manage to get in trouble at school, causing the principal to give them detention. While in detention they find an old rusty video game called “Jumanji.” When they begin to play they get sucked into a real life version of the video game where they have a very important mission to complete.

If they fail or don’t achieve their mission they will be stuck in the game forever and “Jumanji” won’t be saved.

I enjoyed the magnificent creatures in the movie trying to stop the four kids from saving “Jumanji.”

I also liked how the kids were teleported back in time to a different century where I got to experience what it was like in the 1990s. After watching this movie I have a few questions such as did everyone really listen to music on tape players way back then? This movie was a blend of comedy mixed with action.

The music in this movie is from another era so kids may not be familiar with some of the songs; even though they use to be hits of their time. Wait until the end for the credits and you can see the songs, and who sings them. Then you can go online to Google and find out more about the artists, and maybe discover something new that you just might like!

I give this movie 3 out of 4 boxes of popcorn.

It’s entertaining with enough action and adventure that I felt like I ran a mile after watching it!

That’s a wrap!”Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle” stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan. It runs 1 hour and 59 minutes and is rated PG-13.
