A.D. Moyer Lumber celebrates 75 years in business

A.D. Moyer Lumber – voted as the Tri-County area’s #1 Window Dealer for 11 consecutive years, #1 Home Improvement Store four consecutive years, and #1 Contractor Supply Dealer in 2013 – is celebrating its 75th year of supplying lumber and building materials to southeastern Pennsylvania builders, businesses and homeowners.

“We are proud and honored to be celebrating 75 years in business,” said Scott Moyer who co-owns and operates the company with his cousin, Terry. “As third generation owners, we grew up in the business and have toiled through a multitude of peaks and valleys along the way. It gives us great pride to welcome the fourth generation of family into the business and help them set up for success as our fathers did for us.

“There’s no question that we owe our growth and longevity to top-notch, experienced, dedicated and conscientious employees who are second to none, and to the loyal customers of the surrounding communities, many whose parents shopped here and their parents before them. Those who always have and still do appreciate high-quality products and service at a fair price.”

In 1939 the late Amandus D. Moyer purchased and disassembled the famed wooden roller coaster at the Sanatoga Amusement Park, followed by a coal cracker from the Pennsylvania coal region, and hauled the lumber to his home in Gilbertsville to be sold to his customers. That home became the present location of the company’s Gilbertsville headquarters, and so the legacy of A.D. Moyer Lumber began.

Today, A.D. Moyer continues to be a viable contributor to the growth rates and economies of the communities it serves with employees that average more than 17 years experience each in the industry. The company is eternally dedicated to providing knowledgeable and reliable service, and remaining on the leading edge of incorporating the latest technologies of the industry into its business.
