Morgantown Coffee House announces a new partnership.

Owner Ellie Donnegan welcomes new partner and owner Jessica Freeman.

“She has a lot of vision and a lot of great plans. She brings to the table a lot of great administrative qualities,” said Donnegn, who has worked in the coffee business for 15 years with North Atlantic Specialty Bags. “We share a lot of the same vision which is why we chose her as a partner. We’re just really excited that she has a lot of heart for the community.”

Freeman brings to the coffee house about 15 years restaurant and business experience, from waitressing to starting up her own business.

“I think all of these are meshing together with coming here to Morgantown Coffee to be able to give me the tools and knowledge to bring the business up to the next level for the community,” said Freeman.

“Jessica has a lot of fresh ideas,” said Donnegan. “I’ve been in coffee for 15 years but never owned a coffee house so it’s great to be with someone who has restaurant experience. We’re excited to bring her on because she has kids in the community. She’s very community oriented. She believes in small business as I do. We enjoy so much the people that come in here. We love our staff. We’re just having fun, too. I’m excited about what she brings to the table.”

Discussing her connection with the community, Freeman talked about her vision for continuing the coffee shop’s goal to be a place for families.

“It’s very important as a parent also to get to know my kids’ friends and their parents and I think this creates a great atmosphere to have that interaction,” said Freeman, who hopes that the coffee shop will offer a safe place for youth to go to do their home work, play games or just hang out.

“When we started this, we had a real heart for the community and we wanted this to be a place where families will feel comfortable coming to,” said Donnegan. “Our back room can be used for business meetings, pastors that mentor, parties, wedding showers. We really want to be part of the community and we want to benefit the community.”

“Just creating another place for our local families to get involved,” said Freeman. “It’s definitely very family oriented so a place that you’re comfortable bringing your kids and enjoying a cup of coffee and a cookie,” said Freeman.

“We have some possible Bible studies coming in, bridal showers, we have maybe some things later on, kids tea parties,” said Freeman, “longer hours for working parents and give the high schoolers a place to hang out or work.”

Opened in November, the coffee house, Route 23 and Twin Valley Road, offers front and back rooms with seating and a menu of drinks and food items, as well as free Wi-Fi. All coffee served comes directly from local roasters at Twin Valley Coffee.

Since the November opening, the coffee house has been looking to create events that will welcome and support the community. Events include Open Mic Nights and live music events.

Expanded hours are Monday through Thursday 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday closed.
