Morgantown Marketplace, 2490 Main St., Morgantown, is celebrating its first anniversary May 1 to 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Events include numerous door prizes, a spinning prize wheel, silent auction, and refreshments.

The Market is an eclectic mix of vintage and antique furniture, collectibles, home decor and estate jewels; assorted handcrafted and artisan pieces by established and newly-discovered artists; and an ever-growing showcase for newfound artists from the Tri-County area. Every item in the Market is 10 percent off for the anniversary, with additional markdowns and sales offered by individual dealers.

Owner and dealer Stacey Thomspon, who admits the Morgantown Marketplace is “her second baby,” is overwhelmed with the success the artisan and vintage co-op achieved during its first full year in business.

“Honestly, we’re far ahead of where we’d thought we’d be (at this point),” Thompson said, while working with three other vendors to plan the anniversary event.

Thompson also explains that her passion for all things vintage, and her desire to study anthropology in college, has come to fruition. “The Marketplace is a ‘second baby’ for me,” she says, “Instead of digging through rocks, I am combing through vintage and modern history.”
