The Eastern Lancaster County (ELANCO) Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, has posted its schedule of events for December. Registration is required for all library programs. To register or for more information, readers may call the library at 354-0525 or visit www.elancolibrary.org.

The ELANCO Library will continue to offer free tutoring in math and science on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm-8pm from December 3 to December 17. Students in elementary school, middle school and high school are encouraged to use this service. This program is a partnership between the Library and L&T Integrated Engineering Services in New Holland. Engineers from L&T are volunteering their time to tutor the students in our community.

Preschool Story Time will be offered for ages 3-6 on Tuesdays: December 3, 10 & 17 at 10:30 a.m. The programs feature themed books, songs, rhymes, movement activities and crafts to build language and literacy skills.

Toddlers are invited to a special story time just for them. The Friday Frolic encourages children ages 1-3 to to dance, zoom, scoot and hop between stories selected to promote language development. All adults are expected to participate and encourage the children to join in the fun. This program takes place Fridays: December 6, 13, 20 and 27 at 10:30am.

On Wednesday, December 4, CareerLink will be at the Library to assist people in finding a job or to start a new career. Bryan Weather, Re-Employment Career Coach, will evaluate your employment situation and give you the resources you need to find employment. Join us at 10:00am on the second floor in the Activity Room. Let CareerLink and the Library help make your future a brighter future.

Anything goes on Whatchamacallit Wednesdays! Families are invited to join us in the children’s library between 4:30 and 7:30pm for video games, crafts, or other activities. Wednesdays, December 4, 11, and 18. A full schedule of events is available on the library’s web page.

I GEEK health: Tell me more about the Affordable Care Act. Learn what you need to know to make the best choices for medical Insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace. The Welsh Mountain Health Center will present what the ACA is all about and what your options are. Join us Wednesday, December 4 from 5-7:30pm.

The Friends of the ELANCO Library will be hosting a Holiday Book Sale on Saturday, December 7 from 10am-3pm. The sale will feature new and like new books, antique and collectible books, and a Kid’s Corner featuring holiday books. Light refreshments will be served. This event is being held in conjunction with the Sixth Annual Christmas on Main, sponsored by the New Holland Business Association.

Tweens and Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to make and take a craft on Tuesday, December 10 from 3pm-7pm. This month we’ll be making glass ball ornaments.

A LEGO Block Party will be held on Monday, December 16, at 6:30 p.m. During this program for age 3 and up, which is held once a month, attendees will build creations out of LEGO bricks that will be displayed in the library. The theme for December is ‘Best Gift Ever.’

The Super Readers Council Book Club will meet on December 10 at 7 p.m. Participants ages 8 to 12 may read any book and bring it along for discussion.

Science can be dangerous, or least very messy. Danger Club is a science program for students ages 8-12. In December, we’ll learn about forensic science. Our next meeting is Thursday, December 12 at 7pm.

The ELANCO Library Knitting Circle will meet on Monday, December 16 at 7pm. Please feel free to bring any type of needle craft; the circle, despite its name, is not limited to yarn based projects. All ages are welcome.

The Library is hosting Watch and Learn Movies at the Garden Spot Village Garden Towers on Tuesday, December 16 at 10am. Movies are provided by POV, Documentaries with a Point of View, and the December feature is I’m Carolyn Parker: The Good, the Mad, and the Beautiful, an intimate account of Parker’s five-year crusade to rebuild her beloved neon-green house, her church, her community – and her life.

Join Ms. Heather for a night of stargazing and learning about the constellations. Dot to Dot will take place on Saturday, December 21 at 6:30pm. We’ll have the big telescope out to view the night sky. Dress in warm clothes! This is a family event for all ages.

I Geek Christmas! On Monday, December 23, ELANCO Schools are closed and we’re having an all-day Christmas party at the library. Join us for crafts, games, snacks, stories, and a movie. Bring a sack lunch and have lunch with Santa! A full schedule of events can be found on our website. This event is for all ages; children ages 8 and need to be accompanied by an adult, older children are invited to spend the day with us

We’re playing Book Bingo on Monday, December 30 at 2pm. This FREE event will have books as prizes for bingo winners of all ages! Please bring a used children’s book in good condition to replenish our box of books used as prizes!
