Kutztown University’s Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center hosts Christmas on the Farm Saturday, Dec. 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 22 Luckenbill Road, Kutztown.

Attendees will enjoy a Pennsylvania Dutch Christmas on the Farm with visits from the Belsnickel, a petting zoo, children’s activities, vendors, wagon rides and more.

The historic buildings of the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center will be dressed for the holidays and there will be daylong hearth-cooking, brewing, log hewing and blacksmith demonstrations. Visitors will also have the opportunity to experience a working tinsmith shop, and children can take part in several activities, including cookie decorating, paper ornament making and sand art creations.

The Old Time Plow Boys Club will demonstrate and display antique tractors and farm equipment, and they will provide delicious refreshments in the kitchen. The Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen will fill the historic Guild log cabin with arts, crafts, paper goods, Moravian stars, pottery, furniture and many more items.

This event is the perfect place to shop for interesting and novel holiday gifts of all kinds, including handmade soaps, pottery, canned goods and soup mixes, candy, Belsnickel decorations, photographic prints, fabric goods and DIY kits, old and new books and antiques and candles. In the summer kitchen, visitors can try some samples from Kornfeind’s Market, and peppermint bark or clear toy candy from Lennie’s Candies.

Learn about the history and culture of the Lenape and their relationship with the Pennsylvania Dutch from local expert and storyteller, Darius Puff. George Vinter will also be on-hand with his display and demonstration of early American toys and games.
