Kutztown Area Historical Society Model Railroad Open House

Lehigh Valley Beekeepers Association “INTRODUCTION TO BEEKEEPING.” 7 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 5, 19 and March 5, 19. All classes, as well as planned field trips to the club apiary for hands on experience, will be at Lehigh Carbon Community College, 4525 Education Park Drive, Schnecksville. Building and classroom information provided to registrants prior to the first class. For questions prior to registering, stop by the Lehigh County Ag Center (next to Dorney Park in Allentown) Jan. 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. to talk to experienced beekeepers. There is a fee for classes, which cover basic bee biology; equipment; setting up hive and adding bees; a typical year in the life of a beekeeper; honey bee pests and treatment options, small group workshops. Feb. 9

Berks Youth Chorus first pops concert, A NIGHT AT THE MOVIES, at 4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 9, at Schaeffer Auditorium, Kutztown University. Featured music includes songs from movie classics and today’s popular soundtracks, such as The Sound of Music, Finian’s Rainbow, Hairspray, Amadeus, Cats, and The Prince of Egypt. The chorus is pulling out all the stops with choreographed performances by more than 100 singers in four ensembles: Training Chorus, Choristers, Chorale, and MasterSingers.
