Centerport Lions Club. Jamming Sessions will be held every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. Music starts at 5:30 p.m. All musicians welcome.

Senior Citizens Club of Hamburg. The Hamburg Seniors meet at 2 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in the Hamburg Area Middle School cafeteria. If school is canceled on the meeting day because of bad weather, the meeting is canceled.

Hamburg Public Library Story Time: The Hamburg Public Library has story time on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. for ages 18 months through 3 years old. At 11 a.m. there is story time for preschoolers and home schooled early elementary. The schedule is available on the librarys website at www.berks.lib.pa.us/hamburgpl.

Hamburg Public Library Board Meetings: Library board meetings are held the second Tuesdays except July. Public encouraged to attend.

Chestnut Knoll Assisted Living, 120 W. Fifth Street, Boyertown, hosts a monthly family support group for those who are coping with Alzheimers disease. It is affiliated with the Alzheimers Association and is held on the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m.

Crime Watch Meetings

The Neighborhood Crime Watch is a return to the old-fashioned days when neighbors took care of neighbors and communicated with police. Watches mobilize residents of all ages to be the eyes and ears of the nieghborhood to help report crime in action or suspicious behavior to the police force, who can quickly act on tips. Meetings are held the 4th Monday from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the Hamburg Municipal Center. The crime watch is open to ALL BOROUGH RESIDENTS and will cover the entire borough. Bethany United Methodist Church Young Childrens Choir

Washington, DC, Bus Trip

Sponsored by the Hamburg Public Library. Trip is April 5. Leave Hamburg Middle School at 7:45 a.m., drop off on the Mall in DC, Leaving Washington at 6 p.m. There is a cost per person due by March 7. For more information call 61-562-2843.

New York City Bus Trip

Sponsored by the Hamburg Public Library. Trip is June 14. Have a fund day in New York, a day day to do as you wish in the city. Leave Hamburg Middle School at 8 a.m., pickup at Bryant Park (41st St. and the Avenue of Americas) at 6 p.m. There is a cost per person due by May 16. No refunds unless the seat can be filled. Philadelphia Flower Show

Bus trip to the 2014 International Philadelphia Flower on March 18 at Pennsylvania Convention Center. Bus leaves Hamburg Field House at 9 a.m. and will leave flower show at 5 p.m., arriving back in Hamburg at approx. 6:30 p.m. There is a cost per person. Call 610-562-3106 for tickets. Cross Country Ski/Hike Snow or No!

At 1 p.m. at Blue Marsh Lake-Day Use Area, Bern Township.

Berks Parks and Blue Marsh Lake staffers will lead a Cross-Country Ski/Hike which will take full advantage of the beautiful Blue Marsh trails. This program is for all levels of skiers and there will be a few hills. Should there be no snow cover, everyone will take a hike. Either way, it will be a fun Saturday afternoon and will surely help you shake that mid-winter cabin fever.

All ages can join in the fun. Cross-country skis may be rented at Buckmans Ski Shop, Muhlenberg Township, by calling 610-678-5960 or visiting www.buckmans.com. Participants may also bring their own cross-country skis. Registration deadline was Feb. 4.

18th Century Pennsylvania German Ice Harvesting

At 2:30 p.m., at the Historic Dreibelbis Farm, on Route 143 south of the village of Virginville. GPS Address: 356 Hard Hill Road, Hamburg. Parking is available on-site. The demonstration will include cutting and harvesting ice blocks from the ice pond, hauling the ice to the ice house, loading the ice house, and a demonstration of the tools used. A bonfire and hot chocolate will be available after the presentation, and the farm grounds and nature trail will be open to the public.

The event is free to the public and will be held rain or shine, with only blizzard conditions cancelling. Attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather.

At The Grand Old Opry of Centerport sponsored by Central Berks Lions Club.
