Kutztown Leo Club hosts Charity Book Sale benefiting Relay for Life

The Kutztown High School’s Leo Club (the junior auxiliary of the Kutztown Lions Club) will be holding their annual Charity Book and Media Sale Saturday, April 26 in the Kutztown Area High School cafeteria.

With thousands of books of every conceivable level and genre, hundreds of records, CDs, cassettes, and DVDs there is something for everyone. The Leo Club will also be selling baked goods.

All proceeds are donated toward their Relay for Life team, Cougars for a Cause. Relay for Life is an event to recognize and help put a stop to cancer and will be held at Kutztown University the first weekend in June. Last year the Cougars for a Cause team gave $1,500 to Relay for Life with the help of the book and media sale.

The media sale, a yearly event since 2005 (except 2010 where all the remaindered books were donated to a local church to assist in their charity drive), was initially held to benefit a small school in Louisiana affected by Hurricane Katrina. Over the years, roughly $10,000 has been donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the Wounded Warriors, the Pennsylvania ASPCA, the American Heart Association, but primarily the American Cancer Society, in particular the annual Relay.

We are still accepting donations up to and including the day of the sale. If you have any questions, please contact Leo Advisor Josh Chambers at the high school at 610-683-7346 or jchambers@kasd.org.

Carissa Wehr is the Leo Club president.
