This event has been successful and the scouts will use the proceeds to update equipment and help defray the costs of summer camp and monthly trips.
Troop 140 is a member of the Chester County Council and was created in 1972 as an Eagle Project by Ron Hughes, who is a member of our sponsoring organization, Saint Peters UCC in Knauertown. The troop meets Wednesday nights from 7pm to 8:30pm in Detterline Hall at the church, located on Rt. 23 in Knauertown, (east of Elverson and St. Peter’s Village).
The troop has many active members, scouts and adults alike, who contribute to the success of the troop. We are looking forward to our new scouts who will be crossing over from Pack 140. In addition to the weekly meetings, there are monthly activities such as Camp and Shoot, Winter Camping at Daniel Boone Homestead, hiking, a trip to the Chesapeake to name just a few. The scouts also participate in High Adventure trips and have been to Philmont in New Mexico and Sea Base in the Florida Keys. There are a lot of merit badges earned both at summer camp and by the scouts on their own or through classes held at some meetings. A number of scouts began work on a boating merit badge on the Chesapeake. We have been attending summer camp at Resica Falls in the Poconos and everyone in attendance always has a great time. Some of our scouts even serve as counselors, or counselors in training at the camp.
If interested in more about our troop, stop at a Wednesday night meeting at St. Peter’s UCC Church, Rt. 23 in Knauertown. Newcomers are always welcome. Visit bsa140.webs.com.
