The historic town clock at the Church of the Good Shepherd can be described as one of Boyertown’s most recognizable skyline feature. On July 10, 1920 the town clock bell struck for the first time. Now in its 94th year, Boyertown’s iconic clock and bell have been silenced.
To honor the anniversary, members of the Boyertown community are rallying to restore the clock.
This Saturday, the Save Our Boyertown Town Clock Foundation will launch the community campaign to preserve this vital piece of Boyertown history.
The Historic State Theater invites the community for a free showing of ‘Back to the Future’ at 2 p.m., to be followed by Cruise Night which will be found right in front of the theater.
Years of exposure to the elements has caused deterioration both inside and outside the open tower and structure, with damage to the dials, hands and mechanical gearing of each of the four faces of the clock.
