Frecon Farms, best known as a family-owned local producer of numerous fruits, home-made ciders and wines, has expanded their reputation even further to include baked goods. Some of the many sweet treats they offer are pies, cookies, bread, rolls, tarts, cake, donuts, and even quiche. Josh Smith, Sales and Marketing Director, confessed, ‘I’ve sampled everything!’

Smith said they opened the bakery around Mother’s Day this year and business has taken off.

‘We are doing really well for starting out. Just look at our Facebook page, the feedback is amazing,’ he said, suggesting that if a person is looking for a particular item to call ahead because items are limited. ‘There are new items baked daily. Every hour there is a new scent coming out of the oven.’

Since taking over the business in 2003, co-owner Steve Frecon has had big plans for the farm. ‘It was just a matter of time and money. Planning and starting the process to open the bakery has been long. But it’s finally ready.’ Frecon said he had the idea of starting a bakery for years.

‘Our produce is still the main focus,’ said Frecon. ‘We want to create products that are specialized, not commercialized like a grocery store bakery, and become really good at it, find our niche and keep producing quality items.’ He goes on to say how Frecon Farms takes pride in using only local grown ingredients for their goods.

The grand opening of the bakery is set for Saturday, July 26, during the Farm’s Annual Peach Jubilee Festival. On Friday, July 25, there will be an official ribbon cutting with Building a Better Boyertown. The celebration will have samples of peach pizza, peach soup and free peach sundaes. Coffee will also be available from One Village based out of Souderton.

Currently, the bakery does not have gluten-free options. They are accepting customized orders for in-store pick up and reached at 610-367-6200 or by email freconfarms@gmail.com with any questions.

Frecon Farms participates in eleven farmers markets, ranging as far as the Philadelphia Main Line where they will be selling their new baked items in addition to their regular items.
