Centerport Lions Club. Jamming Sessions will be held every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. Music starts at 5:30 p.m. All musicians welcome.

Senior Citizens Club of Hamburg. The Hamburg Seniors meet at 2 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in the Hamburg Area Middle School cafeteria. If school is canceled on the meeting day because of bad weather, the meeting is canceled.

Hamburg Public Library Story Time: The Hamburg Public Library has story time on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. for ages 18 months through 3 years old. At 11 a.m. there is story time for preschoolers and home schooled early elementary. The schedule is available on the librarys website at www.berks.lib.pa.us/hamburgpl.

Hamburg Public Library Board Meetings: Library board meetings are held the second Tuesdays except July. Public encouraged to attend.

Chestnut Knoll Assisted Living, 120 W. Fifth Street, Boyertown, hosts a monthly family support group for those who are coping with Alzheimers disease. It is affiliated with the Alzheimers Association and is held on the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m.

Bats of the Bridge

Dr. Karen Campbell, professor of biology at Albright College, presents a slide lecture on bats from around the world and those right here in Berks County. After the presentation, well take a walk over to the covered Red Bridge to see our own colony of bats.

Troop 184 Reunion

Attention all Scouter, past or present, of Troop 184. The troop is proud to announce that it is 75 years old and we are having a 75th reunion. Days events includ: Tours of the Scoutland with a hotdog roast from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Memory Time when doors open at 4 p.m. and dinner at Salem EC Church followed by program at 5:15 p.m. There is a cost that includes meal and souvenir patch and glass. History of Games

At 2 p.m. at Berks County Heritage Center, Bern Township.

Learn the origins of family games and play with some of the great ones from the past. Discover what events and inventions changed games. A number of original games will be on display (some from as early as the 1800s). You can play with such games as Operation, Labyrinth, dominoes, and some from the Civil War era. This program is for all ages.

Large Market Basket Workshop

This basket was the very first basket that Vicky Heffner made some 20 years ago. Join her to create your own basket that is big enough to carry everything! Bring a bucket, towel, 10 spring clothes pins, screwdriver, and old pair of scissors. There is a cost to instructor that is required with registration by Aug. 17.

Food Safety Certification Course

For non-profit organizations will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Salem Reformed Church, located along Route 501, south of the village of Bethel in northwestern Berks County. Anyone interested in becoming certified as a non-profit volunteer for serving food safely at local functions is welcome to sign up for this free course being offered by the PA Dept. of Agriculture.

This training session will be limited to the first 120 people who register. A certificate will be issued to those completing the one-evening course.
