The Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles is pleased to hold the 49th Annual Duryea Day Antique & Classic Car & Truck Show and Flea Market on Saturday, Aug. 30, at Boyertown Community Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Hundreds of antique and classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles will be on display at beautiful Boyertown Community Park. All styles and time periods will be represented, from the brass era to the 1950s tailfins to the loud muscle cars. For those who like something a bit edgier, there will be plenty of hot rods and motorcycles roaring through the park. Commercial and light duty trucks will also be on display. Delivery trucks, fire trucks, big rigs, and more will be on hand for spectators to enjoy. For the past several years, over 500 vehicles have been on display at the Park.
Duryea Day also features a large flea market full of everything from car parts and automobile memorabilia to homemade crafts. There will also be a Car Corral with classic cars for sale.
Activities during the day include the attention-getting Car Games. Watch drivers try to balance their antique cars on a giant teeterboard. Admission to the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles is included in your park admission. A trolley will be shuttling visitors all day between the park and the Museum. Catch the Museum’s special exhibit, Woodrow Wilson, President Electric: Harnessing the Power of Innovation in the Progressive Era before it leaves the Museum on September 30. A model train setup housed in an antique Model T Truck will also be running throughout the day at the Museum. Also of note in the Museum’s newly air-conditioned gallery are several new exhibit cases featuring the history of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, early anti-theft devices for automobiles, and a history of the Autocar Company. Don’t forget that the ever-popular Reading Diner is on display at the Museum, as well.
Duryea Day would not be complete without good music and good food. Ken Meyle’s Special Delivery will be at one pavilion playing some bluegrass and contemporary music. The Joe Soltysik Band will be at another pavilion performing hits from the 1950s and 1960s. As for food, Moyers Catering will be the day’s main food vendor, with breakfast and ice cream provided by the Lion’s Club and the Relay for Life Jay Walkers team.
Duryea Day also includes chances to win. Trophies will be awarded to Museum’ Choice Antique Pre War Car, Post War Car, Truck, Motorcycle, Modified, and Sports Car. See if your favorites win! And everyone can be a winner by saving a life and giving blood at the Miller-Keystone Blood Center.
The Museum is also excited to have Pottstown Community Television film some of the day’s festivities. This footage will be used as part of the Boyertown Museum’s first episode of a new monthly program they will be filming for PCTV.
Duryea Day is organized and run by the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles and the Pottstown Region Antique Automobile Club of America. Proceeds benefit both organizations.
