The Colebrookdale Railroad is now set to provide two-hour expeditions through the Secret Valley, which runs between Boyertown and Pottstown.
According to the Colebrookdale Railroad Preservation Trust, “visitors to the Colebrookdale in 2014-2015, its pre-opening season, will get a sneak peek at the world-class attraction in the making.”
Upcoming expeditions will depart from the future sites of the Boyertown and Pottstown train stations; Boyertown only in 2014. Visitors can see the railroad’s progress for themselves as coaches are restored and stations are planned and constructed.
For this month, “the Colebrookdale experience will be a hayride-on-rails, with our circa 1910 open car, 1941 caboose, 1927 coach, reported to be haunted!”
The Trust describes the Colebrookdale Rail as “a forgotten Civil War gem” which lost in the deep woods of the Ironstone and Manatawny Valleys. “The line’s towering trestles and steep rock cuts are sheltered by ancient forests of the Secret Valley once held sacred by the native tribes who lived here.” It is also boasted that the line connects some of the oldest ironworking sites.
The trains will depart every Saturday and Sunday and selected Friday evenings beginning this Saturday, Oct 18.
