This year the Boyertown Area Choral Association will celebrate the holiday season by offering two free concerts to the community. The first will be held on Thanksgiving weekend, Sunday, Nov. 30, at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, located at 750 N. Evans Street in Pottstown.
The second concert will take place on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 3 p.m. at The Good Shepherd United Church of Christ at 35 W. Philadelphia Avenue in Boyertown. BACA is directed by Boyertown alumni Donna House and Donna Jean Marshall.
The chorus will perform variations of traditional favorites like the soothing “A Celtic Silent Night” and lively “Angels in Seven.” Original holiday pieces such as “The World for Christmas” which expresses the wish that all children will inherit a beautiful, healthy planet, and “Somewhere in My Memory,” the Oscar-nominated signature tune from the movie Home Alone, will also be sung. The brass ensemble of the Boyertown Alumni Band will play Christmas carols for 30 minutes before the Dec. 7 concert.
Both of the Christmas concerts are free and open to the public, but a free-will offering will also be taken. Part of the Pottstown performance’s offering will benefit the Pottstown Cluster Outreach, which strives to help individuals make real progress in moving from dependence to productive self-sufficiency. Part of the Boyertown concert’s offering will go to the Boyertown Area Multi-Service, an agency that helps to meet the social service and human needs of people of all ages in the greater Boyertown area.
