RecurringCenterport Lions Club: Jamming Sessions will be held every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. Music starts at 5:30 p.m. All musicians welcome.

Senior Citizens Club of Hamburg: The Hamburg Seniors meet at 2 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in the Hamburg Area Middle School cafeteria. If school is canceled on the meeting day because of bad weather, the meeting is canceled.

Hamburg Public Library Story Time: The Hamburg Public Library has story time on Wednesday and Friday mornings at 11 a.m. for ages 18 months through 3 years old, preschoolers and home schooled early elementary. The schedule is available on the library’s website at www.berks.lib.pa.us/hamburgpl.

Hamburg Public Library Board Meetings: Library board meetings are held the second Tuesdays except July. Public encouraged to attend.

Chestnut Knoll Assisted Living: 120 W. Fifth Street, Boyertown, hosts a monthly family support group for those who are coping with Alzheimer’s disease. It is affiliated with the Alzheimer’s Association and is held on the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m.

Shoemakersville Fire Company Line Dancing: Come out to the Banquet Hall on the second Friday of each month. There will be a DJ playing the best country music and a Cash Bar will also be available. From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Must be 21 to enter.

Feb. 5Blood Drive: The LEO club is holding a blood drive from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Hamburg Area High School. The two blood donation busses will be on the old bus platform outside the language hallway by the student parking lot. Terry Boyer from 1860 Wood Co. will present “A Master Craftsman -Researching and Designing the Past.” Terry makes miniature houses to scale. We will not meet if the school is closed because of weather conditions.

Feb. 14Snowshoeing with Your Sweetie on Valentine’s Day: Starting at 1 p.m., at the Kernsville Dam Recreation Area, Monument Parking Lot. Even if you don’t have a sweetie, you’ll have a sweet time at this new fun-filled winter program. If you’ve ever been interested in snowshoeing and wanted to learn what it is all about, then join us for this specially designed program for beginners. Snowshoe sizing and proper fit will be discussed. More importantly, participants will learn how to move in them. If there’s no snow on the ground – or not enough snow – we’ll still gather for a nice mid-winter hike along the beautiful trail. Participants can bring their own snowshoes; we’ll also have some available for “trial on the trail.” Another option: Cross-country ski kits and snowshoes can be rented at Buckman’s Ski Shop in Muhlenberg Township (610-678-5960). March 14Geocaching – A Beginner’s Guide: At Blue Marsh Dry Brooks Day Use area on the beach beginning at 1 p.m. Join staff from parks and the lake along with experienced geocachers as everyone navigates through a beginner’s course. The basics of geocaching will be explained and participants will discover geocaches hidden around Blue Marsh Lake. Come prepared with appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear. Don’t own a handheld GPS? Don’t worry – staff will have some to share.
