RecurringCenterport Lions Club: Jamming Sessions will be held every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. Music starts at 5:30 p.m. All musicians welcome.

Senior Citizens Club of Hamburg: The Hamburg Seniors meet at 2 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in the Hamburg Area Middle School cafeteria. If school is canceled on the meeting day because of bad weather, the meeting is canceled.

Hamburg Public Library Story Time: The Hamburg Public Library has story time on Wednesday and Friday mornings at 11 a.m. for ages 18 months through 3 years old, preschoolers and home schooled early elementary. The schedule is available on the library’s website at www.berks.lib.pa.us/hamburgpl.

Hamburg Public Library Board Meetings: Library board meetings are held the second Tuesdays except July. Public encouraged to attend.

Chestnut Knoll Assisted Living: 120 W. Fifth Street, Boyertown, hosts a monthly family support group for those who are coping with Alzheimer’s disease. It is affiliated with the Alzheimer’s Association and is held on the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m.

Shoemakersville Fire Company Line Dancing: Come out to the Banquet Hall on the second Friday of each month. There will be a DJ playing the best country music and a Cash Bar will also be available. From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Must be 21 to enter.

Food Bank: We Agape You, Inc. holds a food bank the last Thursday of every month. The food pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is located at Bern UCC at 3196 Bernville Rd. Leesport. Feb. 19Wahl Street: Performing at the next Berks Encore Shoemakersville Dance, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Shoemakersville Fire Company. There is a cost per person. Evening dances are held on the third Thursday of each month, except in December.

Feb. 21February Fun Day – A Mid-Winter Adventure: At 1 p.m. at Blue Marsh Lake, Dry Brooks Day Use Area on the Beach.

Winter time can really be fun! Berks County Parks and Blue Marsh Lake staff will guide you on a cross-country ski and snowshoe adventure on the trails around Blue Marsh Lake. This will be a fabulous activity for folks who want to work on enhancing their skiing or snowshoeing techniques on varied terrain. Some snowshoes will be available for trial on the trails. Cross-country ski kits and snowshoes can be rented at Buckman’s Ski Shop in Muhlenberg Township or participants may bring their own. The Dry Brooks Day Use area of Blue Marsh Lake is located along Palisades Drive in Bern Township. This program is presented by the Berks County Parks and Recreation Department. Geo-Caching and Winter Scavenger Hunt: From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Visitor Center. Beat cabin fever with two outdoor activities. Snow date is Sunday, Feb. 22. FREE with trail fee.

Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you have to stay indoors. Bundle up and make the trip Hawk Mountain to test your skills at geo-caching. Whether you’re a pro or you’ve never heard of it, we’ll set you up for a good time, and provide both an easy and a challenging trek. Also available will be a winter scavenger hunt, with an option designed for adults and another for children.

For those interested in the geo-caching, participants can work alone or as a group. A limited number of GPS units will be available for use, so partipants are encouraged to bring their own, if possible. Other items to bring include: Warm, Layered Clothing, Digital Camera or camera phone, Handheld GPS unit if you have one, Pencil/Pen, Yak Trax or shoes with good grip. Trails have been ice.

Chicken Pot Pie Dinner: The Hamburg Grange #2103 is holding an All-You-Can-Eat Homemade Chicken Pot Pie Dinner to benefit the SAVE OUR STRAND CAMPAIGN. Bake sale also on premises. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hamburg Area High School. There is a cost for dinner. Take-out available. Tickets are available at the door, or by calling Mike Adams (610) 562-5933, or purchasing at Our Town Foundation, 335 State St. The Grange is also collecting items at the dinner for the Northern Berks Food Pantry. Snow date is Saturday, Feb. 28.

March 14Geocaching – A Beginner’s Guide: At Blue Marsh Dry Brooks Day Use area on the beach beginning at 1 p.m. Join staff from parks and the lake along with experienced geocachers as everyone navigates through a beginner’s course. The basics of geocaching will be explained and participants will discover geocaches hidden around Blue Marsh Lake. Come prepared with appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear. Don’t own a handheld GPS? Don’t worry – staff will have some to share.
