RecurringCenterport Lions Club: Jamming Sessions will be held every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. Music starts at 5:30 p.m. All musicians welcome.

Senior Citizens Club of Hamburg: The Hamburg Seniors meet at 2 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in the Hamburg Area Middle School cafeteria. If school is canceled on the meeting day because of bad weather, the meeting is canceled.

Hamburg Public Library Story Time: The Hamburg Public Library has story time on Wednesday and Friday mornings at 11 a.m. for ages 18 months through 3 years old, preschoolers and home schooled early elementary. The schedule is available on the library’s website at www.berks.lib.pa.us/hamburgpl.

Hamburg Public Library Board Meetings: Library board meetings are held the second Tuesdays except July. Public encouraged to attend.

Chestnut Knoll Assisted Living: 120 W. Fifth Street, Boyertown, hosts a monthly family support group for those who are coping with Alzheimer’s disease. It is affiliated with the Alzheimer’s Association and is held on the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m.

Bethany United Methodist Church Young Children’s Choir: Ages 2-6 practicing 1st 3 Wednesday each month at 6:30 p.m. Singing at 10:15 Worship Service. Sunday after 3rd practice each month. Shoemakersville Fire Company Line Dancing: Come out to the Banquet Hall on the second Friday of each month. There will be a DJ playing the best country music and a Cash Bar will also be available. From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Must be 21 to enter.

Play Competitive Scrabble: Every Tuesday evening from 6 to 10 p.m. at Dunkin’ Donuts, 1618 Mountain Road, Hamburg. Take the next step from the living room to the tournament scene! Free event. Food Bank: We Agape You, Inc. holds a food bank the last Thursday of every month. The food pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is located at Bern UCC at 3196 Bernville Rd. Leesport. March 5The Hamburg Area Historical Society: Meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, at the Hamburg Area High School LGI room. Jim Schlegel will present a program entitled “Rail Lines of the East Penn Valley.” Come hear about the history of our local RR, and the local RR line that was never completed. If school is canceled because of weather, our meeting will canceled.

Free Spaghetti Dinner: From 5-7 p.m. at St. Michael’s Church, 529 St. Michaels Road, 3 miles west of Hamburg. Each child receives a free Kids Meal Toy. Be sure to invite everyone who is in need of a meal. If you come and want to make a donation you can give it to more free meals or the Northern Berks Food Pantry.

Strausstown Fire Company’s Breakfast: At the Strausstown Fire Company’s Community Campus, 50 East Avenue, Strausstown; 8 a.m. to 12 noon; full breakfast menu; proceeds benefit the Apparatus Fund.

March 11Berks Jazz Jam: Coordinated by Mike Eben at 7 p.m. at the Hamburg Area High School auditorium. Open event for any interested students or community member in Berks County. Professional group of jazz musicians lead the session. Great opportunity to learn more about jazz music and play with professional musicians for free.

March 14Geocaching – A Beginner’s Guide: At Blue Marsh Dry Brooks Day Use area on the beach beginning at 1 p.m. Join staff from parks and the lake along with experienced geocachers as everyone navigates through a beginner’s course. The basics of geocaching will be explained and participants will discover geocaches hidden around Blue Marsh Lake. Come prepared with appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear. Don’t own a handheld GPS? Don’t worry – staff will have some to share.

March 15Shartlesville Fire Company Breakfast: From 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at its Bingo Hall located on Main St./Old Rt. 22 Shartlesville. It is a full Breakfast Menu and all proceeds benefit the Fire Equipment Fund.

March 21Murder Mystery Dinner: “Contempt of Court” 6 p..m, dinner at 6:30 p.m., and show immediately follows. We hope you will join us for an evening of laughs as the Actors Guild of Schuylkill County presents “Contempt of Court,” a new non-mystery INTERACTIVE comedy. It’s a typical night at Judge Judy’s Peoples Night Court where audience members become plaintiffs, defendants, witnesses and jury in some of the most outlandishly funny law suits ever to double cross the bench. This hilarious comedy mimicking all those TV court shows proves that some people really have a contempt of court. Breakfast, Bake Sale and Flea Market: St. Luke’s Union Church, 5th and Franklin Streets in Shoemakersville will hold a Breakfast, Bake Sale and Flea Market sponsored by the Youth Group Parents. March 21 & 22Great Outdoors Spring Art Show: From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Local Hamburg Area Arts Alliance members will offer their wildlife-inspired work at Cabela’s: the World’s Foremost Outfitter. Participating artists are Dan Christ, Kathy Miller, Roger Anderson, Richard Smale, Gail Savage, Ken Liskey, and Pirjo L’Esperance. They will feature paintings, wood turnings, photography, and pottery. Located in the Deer Country Exhibit of Cabela’s. Free admission.

March 25Kauffman’s Chicken Barbecue: From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dinner includes 1/2 chicken, baked potato, applesauce and roll. Pick up dinners at Fulton Bank, 3rd and Pine Streets, Hamburg.
