Experience history at Easter on the Farm on March 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center at Kutztown University.

Visitors will be witness to many historic activities including blacksmithing, log hewing, pottery making, and hearth cooking. Children will be delighted by the egg hunts (for ages 6 mos. to 10 yrs.) at 11:30 and 2:30, as well as pony and wagon rides, petting zoo, and hands-on crafts.

Keith Brintzenhoff, Kutztown, takes the stage in the schoolhouse at 10:30 a.m. and at 1 p.m. with “Songs and Stories for Kids of All Ages,” and Mike Hertzog and The Blue Mountain Trio will perform traditional bluegrass and folk music at 2:45 p.m. Other exciting activities in the schoolhouse include a reading of “The Easter Bunny Brothers” by Blandon author Dori Hoch at 2 p.m., and a display and sale of rare star embroidery, or G’Schtarn, and other handmade goods by Shirley Sacks, Fleetwood, of Crewel World. Sacks retired and closed the shop Crewel World after 30 years in business in 2010.

The buildings and grounds of the Heritage Center will be bustling with activity from vendors and crafters. From Moravian stars and paintings to bee products and whittled items – our crafts people are bound to have that perfect Easter gift! Food and refreshments will be available at the Old Time Plow Boys kitchen.

Be sure to stop by the Kid’s Activities tent for basket weaving, paper crafts, and baby chicks provided by the 4-H Embryology Program.

Of special note will be traditional Lenape storytelling, history, and artifacts by Tales from Spirit Wind; as well as beautiful harp music provided by Sarajane Williams of Planet Harp – both taking place in the farmhouse all day.
