April 25Franklin Elementary School Rededication: Franklin Elementary will be rededicated and open for self-guided tours on Saturday, April 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. Come check out all the great renovations. The event will include tons of free activities, including carnival games and inflatable amusements, compliments of JS Productions of Pottstown. There will also be musical performances by the Pottstown Middle School Jazz Band and Flute Ensemble. Enjoy free carnival food, such as hot dogs, cake and soft pretzels. Franklin Elementary is located at 970 N. Franklin St., Pottstown.

Earthfest in Boyertown: The Borough of Boyertown will hold Earthfest 2015 in Boyertown Community Park, 419 S. Madison St., on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine. Pony Rides, the Philadelphia Zoo on Wheels’ “Who’s Who at the Zoo,” a community shredding event, Photo Contest Awards Presentations, Tree City USA Presentation and the Poster Contest will be just some of the events. May 2Orchard Festival: Frecon Farms will host its second “Wassail at Frecon’s Cidery” on the orchard grounds, 501 S. Reading Ave., Boyertown, on Saturday, May 2, from noon to 5 p.m. The wassail, a spring music and orchard festival adopted from traditional English winter orchard celebrations, will feature local bluegrass, jazz, blues and improvisational rock band favorites including the Manatawny Creek Ramblers, The Cider House Band and Flux Capacitor who will perform live in the orchard. The entire Frecon’s Cidery portfolio of hard ciders will be available for tasting, including The Crabby Granny, The Early Man and The Hogshead – all gluten-free and made from apples grown right in the Frecon Farms orchard. Persons of all ages are welcome to attend. Food trucks like WildeFire Wood-Fired Pizza will serve up delicious foods for attendees to purchase that will pair with their cider(s). Annual Fundraiser Dinner Dance: Boyertown will host “A May Day Celebration,” its annual fundraiser dinner dance benefitting Building a Better Boyertown and The Colebrookdale Railroad on Saturday, May 2, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Bellewood Country Club, 400 E. Schuylkill Road, Pottstown. Tickets can be purchased at the Building a Better Boyertown office, Twin Turrets Inn, Frecon Farms and The Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles. In celebration that spring is here, there will be live music by the DBB Quartet and a special Maypole dance performance hosted by Premier Dance Studio. Silent auction items will be raffled off to benefit both Building a Better Boyertown and the Colebrookdale Railroad Preservation Trust. Colonial May Fair: Celebrate spring at the Annual Colonial May Fair held at historic Pottsgrove Manor on Saturday, May 2, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This yearly event is a fun-filled day with activities for all ages, including games, music, dancing and crafts. The fair coincides with the second “Pow-Wow on Manatawny Creek,” celebrating the culture and traditions of the Lenni-Lenape Native Americans. The pow-wow will take place during the hours of the May Fair and will be held at Memorial Park, less than a block from Pottsgrove Manor. Visitors are asked to park at the Carousel at Pottstown building, 30 W. Handicapped parking is available in the museum’s parking lot. Pottsgrove Manor is located at 100 W. King St., near the intersection with Route 100.

Celebrate Recovery: The newest ministry at Hopewell Community Church, 1130 Commerce Drive, Pottstown, will “Celebrate Recovery” through meetings every Wednesday at 7 p.m. Celebrate Recovery deals with Hurts, Hang Ups, and yes Habits. It is a twelve step program, unlike other programs we know who our “higher power” is, the one and only God and it is biblically based. We will honor Jesus and Praise Him. Chronic Disease Management Support Group (formerly called Congestive Heart Failure Support Group): On the second Wednesday of each month, the Chronic Disease Management Support Group invites a featured guest who covers a key topic that is beneficial to those managing heart health and other chronic diseases. Light heart-healthy snacks are also provided. In an effort to provide healthy education and useful tools, Berks VNA offers this program to the community for no charge. It is available as the result of a grant awarded to Berks VNA from Highmark Foundation for chronic care management of congestive heart failure.
