The American Legion Reber-Moore Post #635 will host Shillington’s 87th annual Memorial Day Parade and Service on Monday, May 25th, 2015. Memorial Day honors and remembers those who have died serving their country. We are encouraging civic organizations to participate or come as a spectator to show support for those who serve their country and community.

This year FOUR BANDS will entertain spectators with the many other entries in the parade. Also our neighborhood children will decorate their bicycles and scooters to compete for the Most Patriotic Design in the parade.

We encourage spectators to watch the parade anywhere along the parade route. The parade will travel from the Governor Mifflin Middle School along Lancaster Avenue, passing a reviewing stand at the borough hall and continue onto South Wyomissing Avenue. From Wyomissing Avenue the Parade will turn onto Broad Street then onto New Holland Avenue and end at the Fairview Cemetery. A memorial service for our fallen heroes will be held at the Cemetery.

At the conclusion of the Parade and Services, the Keystone Fire Company No. 1 of Shillington invites everyone to attend the housing ceremony for their 2014 Seagrave Fire Truck. The housing will take place at the Fire Station, 221 Catherine Street,

In case of rain, services will still be held in the Governor Mifflin High School Auditorium at 10:30 am. Cancellation of the parade will be announced on WEEU radio 830 AM by 7:45 a.m.

The parade will begin at 10:30 am at the Governor Mifflin Middle School parking lot followed by a service at the Fairview Cemetery. If you know of a civic organization that would like to participate in the parade, please contact David Bentz at: dbentz@shillingtonfc.com for additional information.
