Clay on Main will be celebrating World Music Day with a potluck dinner and music jam.
World Music Day is celebrated around the world through free public events that takes place each midsummer on Sunday, June 21.
Last year there were events in 108 countries and 726 cities around the world. The event is also known as Fete de la Musique (www.fetedelamusique.culture.fr), or World Music Day, and originated in France in 1982. Since then the idea has spread across the globe with each event holding to the same simple set of principles: that the day is held on the mid-summer solstice and that all concerts and events are free and accessible to the public.
This is the third year that Clay on Main is participating in this global event.
The studio will be hosting a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. with a music jam to follow. This year’s event will feature Clay on Main’s (soon to be) world famous Ukulele Orchestra. Local residents are encouraged to participate with their instrument, voice, or just turn up and join in the free celebration.
