Take a step back in time with the 2015 Eastwood Summer Classic, where special interest vehicles will capture the attention of both young and old alike.

Spend the day reminiscing of days gone by where fathers spent time with their sons teaching them not only about fishing, baseball and football but also about cars and trucks. Boys learned about engines, torque, RPM’s, body styles, paint, and welding whether they wanted to or not. Soon, these same boys were identifying cars by their unique features like the bullet taillights, fins, grills, and body style. Over the years, this automotive passion helped launch careers and captured the attention of women as well and today, this non-gender passion continues with the restoration of the classics.

On Saturday, July 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. more than 300 cars of all years, makes and models are expected to converge at the Eastwood retail headquarters at 263 Shoemaker Road, Pottstown. Vehicle owners, (males and females, hobbyists and professionals), are all hoping their car or truck is chosen as the Best in Show. Though professional restorers do participate, many are hobbyists that learned their passion through trial and error, by watching videos, reading books, attending classes, working with friends or just plain old listening to Dad.

This is the 5th year for the Summer Classic. With over 300 participants and nearly 700 attendees last year, Eastwood is hoping for nicer weather.

In attendance once again will be The Street Rodder Road Tour with their fully restored 1961 Ford Sunliner. The Road Tour has been to all the Summer Classic Events and celebrates their 20th year of touring this year; however, this is the first year that Street Rodder Magazine will be selecting two vehicles as Best in Show due to the level of cars that attend… like last year’s Gene Winfield Award Winner from the 2014 Syracuse Nationals. He had his truck in the 2014 Eastwood Summer Classic Event. What an exhilarating feeling it will be to the man or woman, especially if they are a hobbyist, when they hear theirs was chosen as Best in Show by special guest, Brian Brennan, the Content Director for the Hot Rod Network. Best in Show, earns one winner a feature in Street Rodder Magazine and the other a posting on streetrodder.com.

This year’s event starts with a kick-off party on Friday, July 24, at the Pottstown facility from 4-8 p.m. The public is invited to stop by for “kick-off party only” deals and a cruise-in format where the Road Tour car and participants will be on hand. Food and refreshments will be offered for purchase by Dallas Fries, Hillbilly BBQ and Lil’Nutzy Concessions.

Saturday’s event will feature DJ Bruce Garber and a lemonade stand with all proceeds going to Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Royersford pediatric cancer patient, Trey Love, will be in attendance as an ambassador on Saturday and will select a vehicle for “Trey’s Pick”. Both the kick-off event and Saturday’s 2015 Eastwood Summer Classic are free to the public. Entry fee for Saturday’s classic participants is $5.00. Saturday’s event not only features beautifully restored cars and trucks but Eastwood’s R & D facility will be open for Q & A and hands-on trials of products with Eastwood Experts. Television host, automotive freelance journalist, host of Paintucation and Eastwood’s Hands-On Car web series, Kevin Tetz, (former co-host of Trucks!) will be hosting a paint and sanding panel discussion along with Dave Walsh from SoftSanders while Evans Cooling will be hosting a tech session on the benefits of their waterless coolant. Custom welding helmets, RoadKill shirts and hats, autographed 2015 Street Rodder Road Tour sign, magazine subscriptions to popular automotive publications, tools and more automotive memorabilia will be raffled off.

There are many out there that are unfamiliar with Eastwood. So who are they? “Eastwood provides solutions to problems that hobbyists and professionals encounter when restoring or modifying vehicles. Eastwood offers automotive tools and supplies, plus knowledge of how to “Do the Job Right. We provide free tech article, videos, livestream demonstrations and educational classes at the retail store,” says Nick Capinski, Director of Product Solutions.

Launched in 1978 to help the auto restoration and customization hobbyist markets, Eastwood’s growth boomed after unexpected endorsements by both the Mercedes and BMW car clubs on a simple product. From there it has been non-stop. Eastwood’s customer file grew to over a half million auto restoration and customization enthusiasts.

The 2015 Eastwood Summer Classic is a great way to reminisce, show off one’s automotive restoration passion to others and raise money for pediatric cancer. For more information, please visit <eastwood.com/summerclassic2015> or call 1-800-343-9353.
