“Making a Difference” in the lives of people with dementia: This workshop is open to the public and is designed for family caregivers, as we recognized a growing need in the Oley Valley and surrounding areas, for more information geared toward the family caregiver, and their needs. Saturday, Oct. 3All U Can Eat Dinner: Pork and Sauerkraut dinner to be held from 3 to 7 p.m. at Calvary United Church of Christ at 1231 Route 100, Barto. Adults are $8, children 6 to 12 years are $4 and under 6 years eats for free. Menu is pork and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, roll and butter and Longacre’s ice cream. Proceeds benefit Calvary’s missions with 10 percent going to Calvary United Cancer Crusaders for the Boyertown Relay For Life 2016. Paranormal Investigation: A paranormal investigation at Popodickon Manor starts at 8 p.m. This magnificent historic house, built around 1730 as the mansion for the ironmaster of the Colebrookdale Furnace, first iron furnace in Pennsylvania, houses numerous spirits from its rich past. We will be investigating in the house, graveyard and alleged burial site of Chief Popodickon, conducted by K.A.S.P.E.R. and you can join in. The cost is $25. Sunday, Oct. 4Fall Fun Fest: To be held at Huff’s Church Park. Drop In Anytime 3-5 p.m. Free candy and gift for children! Games, snacks, Bible Story scenes. Costumes optional (nothing gory or evil). Indoors if bad weather.

Wednesday, Oct. 7Historical Society Program: The program will be on the History of Apple Cider in the Boyertown area and will be conducted by Hank Frecon of Frecon Cidery and the Other Farm Brewing Company. The Frecon family has been growing quality fruit trees in Boyertown since 1944 and it’s a great time of year to talk about apples. A cider tasting will follow the presentation, which begins at 7 p.m. at the Museum of the Boyertown Area Historical Society, 43 S. Chestnut St., Boyertown. All programs of the historical society are free of charge to members and students. There is a $5 charge for non-members to help us preserve Boyertown history.

Thursday, Oct. 8Lions Club: The Boyertown Lions Club will hold their monthly board meeting at 6:30 PM at the Gilbertsville Fire Co.., 1454 E. Phila. Ave., Boyertown. All members are welcome.

Saturday, Oct. 10Breakfast: Bally Mennonite Church, Route 100 in Bally, will be serving a Pancake breakfast, including pancakes, French toast, sausage, scrapple, OJ, tea, & coffee in the Church Fellowship hall on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 7-11 a.m. The cost is a donation. Proceeds from this pancake breakfast will provide funds for the Sahara Children’s home in Nepal, which serves underprivileged children. For questions, call the church at 610-845-7780.

Historic Haunted Ghost Walk: To be held at 8:30 p.m. Walk begins at the museum of the Boyertown Area Historical Society, 43 S. Chestnut Street, Boyertown. This entertaining walk about Boyertown highlights properties where there is known or suspected paranormal activity. Cost for members of the Society and students is $10 and $12 for non-members. Wednesday, Oct. 14Lions Club: The Boyertown Lions Club will be visiting the Amityville Lioness club at Keystone Villa, Douglassville. Lion Jim Grofe will be speaking on MOPA (moment of peace adventures). The regular Thursday night meeting of the Boyertown Lion Club has been cancelled.

Saturday, Oct. 24Boyertown Halloween Parade: To be held from 7 to 10 p.m. The parade begins at Second and Madison Street and proceeds west on Philadelphia Avenue, south on Reading Avenue, east on Third Street, south on Monroe Street, and east on Second Street. Parade hosted by the Boyertown Jaycees.
