During the day on Monday, May 9, observers will notice the small black disk of the planet Mercury crossing the Sun. This event, called a transit, hasn’t happened since 2006 and provides us with a unique view of a special astronomical event.

People wishing to see the transit will need a telescope that is properly filtered to safe guard against the suns light. If weather permits, the public is invited to the Boyertown Planetarium where we will have telescopes outside at 11:30 a.m. to view the transit safely. Don’t miss this amazing event.

Admission to the planetarium is $4 for adults and $2.50 for students and children. The planetarium is located in the back of the building at the Junior High East Center on route 73.
