Nov. 16Crime watch: The Amity Township Crime Watch monthly meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 548 Old Swede Road, Douglassville.

Nov. 18Holiday Bazaar: To be held from 9 a.m. -1 p.m. at Friedens UCC, 337 Main Street, Oley. Shoofly and fruit pies, AP cakes, cookies, soups, gift snacks, crafts, flea market, and gift basket raffle. A lunch of soups, turkey and beef barbecues, hot dogs, and hoagies will be available.

Reading Tutors: Volunteers needed for Ready.Set.READ! Program; Help make a difference in a child’s life! Volunteers are needed to tutor 2nd grade students who are struggling with reading at Lorane Elementary, Mt. Penn Elementary and Monocacy Elementary Schools. No previous teaching experience is required. This opportunity is for anyone interested in volunteering weekly for one hour during the 2017-2018 school year. Garden Club: Pottstown Area Garden Club welcomes amateurs interested in all aspects of gardening. Meetings are held the first Friday of every month at St. James Lutheran Church, 1101 E. High St., Pottstown at 11:30 a.m. Contact 610-327-2235.

Birdsboro Rotary: Birdsboro Rotary Club meets 6:30 p.m. every Thursday at the Reading Country Club, 5311 Perkiomen Ave, Reading.

Pagoda Writers: The Pagoda Writers group gets together from 1 to 3 p.m. the first Saturday of every month on the second floor of the Pagoda, 98 Duryea Drive, Reading.

Stitching Circle: The Mifflin Community Library’s Evening Stitching Circle meets every Monday from 6:30-8 p.m., and the Afternoon Stitching Circle meets every Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. New members are always welcome and should bring their own materials. There are currently between 12-15 members who sew, knit and crochet. The group works on personal projects as well as service projects to benefit the community. Come join in loads of fun & stitching!

Writers group: Mifflin Writers Group continues to meet the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month from 6:30-8 p.m. Mifflin Writers Group is composed of writers of all genres and levels of experience. Their purpose is to motivate, inspire, instruct, inform, share and critique each other in their writing efforts in a free flowing and relaxed atmosphere. Most programs encourage pre-registration and take place downstairs at the Mifflin Community Library unless otherwise noted.
