DOUGLASS (Berks) – An Oley Township woman died from injuries she suffered in a two-vehicle crash on Douglass Drive in the township Friday morning, Nov. 29.
According to a press release issued by the Reading barracks of the state police, the deceased was identified as Wendy F. Heacock, 59.
Heacock was driving north on Douglass Drive around 11:51 a.m. when she drove into the path of a vehicle operated by Larry Z. Slifer, 39, of Birdsboro, at the intersection of Reading Avenue and Douglass Drive, police said.
Slifer, who was eastbound on Reading Avenue prior to the crash, had the right-of-way as there is no stop sign on Reading Avenue at that intersection, police said in the press release.
Heacock suffered serious injuries in the crash and was airlifted to Reading Hospital and Medical Center in West Reading for treatment, police said. She later died from her injuries, police said.
Slifer suffered minor injuries in the accident, police said.
Further details on the crash were not immediately available from police.
