Snowmobile accident sends Hamburg man to hospital with severe head and leg injuries

A Hamburg man is being treated for severe head and leg injuries following a snowmobile accident on Dec. 17 at 8:16 p.m. in Centre Twp.

Pennsylvania State Police report that Aaron Wetzel, 28, of Hamburg, was snowmobiling in field in the area of Easter St. and Centerport Road in Centre Twp. on Tuesday night in a group of six people. After falling off of his snowmobile, Wetzel was struck by another snowmobile operated by John Byassee, of Hamburg. Wetzel was flown from the scene to Reading Hospital for treatment of severe head and leg injuries.

According to police, no suspicious activity appears to have been involved.
