Charge filed against Hamburg Area High School employee for Institutional Sexual Assault

The Hamburg Borough Police report that on or about December 13, 2013 thru January 1, 2014, Jennifer Merklinger, 40, of Hamburg (Employee at the Hamburg Area High School), was accused of having engaged in sexual intercourse with an eighteen year old male student of the school. The incident Did not take place in the school or its property. The acts occurred in the Boroughs of Hamburg and Shoemakersville. The incident was reported to the Police by Hamburg School Officials when they became aware of it on Jan. 2.

On Jan. 10, Hamburg Borough Police, Criminal Investigator Angel Cabrera and Officer Linda Hoy filed the charge of Institutional Sexual Assault (F3) against Merklinger before District Judge Kim Bagentose. Merklinger turned herself in and bail was set at $25,000 unsecure by D.J. Bagenstose.
