Man arrested for possession and warrant
The Pennsylvania State Police arrested Alejandro Jose Alvarez III, 33, no current address, for possession of a controlled substance and other related charges on Jan. 14 at 1:40 p.m. in the 6000 block of Old Route 22, Hillcrest Camp Ground, in Upper Tulpehocken Twp. Alvarez ran from police after they attempted to make contact with him after walking away from a residence. The owner of the residence was taken into custody by Pennsylvania State Police for a warrant. Alvarez was apprehended a short distance from the location. Cocaine and marijuana were found on him along with a scale and $209 in cash. Alvarez also had a warrant out of Berks County for failure to appear on theft charges.
One vehicle accident in Bethel Twp.
Pennsylvania State Police report that a one vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 78 at mile marker 13.1 in Bethel Twp. on Jan. 20 at 9:53 a.m. Noelle L. Dixon, 23, of Brooklyn, NY, was traveling eastbound in the left lane in a 2008 Mazda M31 when she began to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle began to spin, crossing into the right lane and then the shoulder and south side of the road where it impacted with a light pole with its passenger side rear. The vehicle came to rest in the south shoulder with the damaged pole lying on top of the roof. Dixon was not injured and the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
Man cited for Disorderly Conduct, charged for Drug Possession
Pennsylvania State Police were notified of an intoxicated passenger on a Greyhound Bus that was en route from New York to Pittsburgh on Jan. 26 at 1:14 a.m. between Exit 29 of Interstate 78 and Industrial Drive in Tilden Twp. The passenger, Lamont Joseph Stanley, 39, Bronx, NY, was highly intoxicated and was causing a deal of unrest on the bus with other passengers. Stanley was removed from the bus and cited for Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness. A suspected synthetic marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia were found in his possession. He was charged accordingly and committed to Berks County Prison.
Two vehicle accident in North Heidelberg Twp.
Pennsylvania State Police report that Eric S. Geller, 31, of Bernville, was traveling west on Brownsville Rd in North Heidelberg Twp. on Jan. 27 at 7:55 a.m. Priscilla Campos, 29, of Reading, was traveling south on Milestone Rd. Geller stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Milestone Rd. and Brownsville Rd. and entered the intersection, attempting to make a left turn. While Geller was in the path of Campos, the front end of Campos’ vehicle struck the driver’s side of Geller’s.
Both vehicles sustained disabling contact damage and were towed from the scene. There were no injuries. Geller was cited for Duties at Stop Signs at District Court.
