Tractor Trailer Hit and Run in Upper Bern Twp.
The Pennsylvania State Police report that a red Freightliner sideswiped a neighboring truck parked in an adjacent stall while pulling out from its own parking spot in Upper Bern Twp. on Feb. 11 at 2:40 p.m. The driver fled the scene without leaving any information. The driver of the 2006 Sterling LT that was struck by the Freightliner was inside a convenience store at the time of the Hit and Run.
Two vehicle accident strikes utility pole in Bethel Twp.
The Pennsylvania State Police report that a two vehicle accident resulted in one vehicle striking a utility pole on Old Route 22 at its intersection with Midway Rd. in Bethel Twp. on Feb. 10 at 3:06 p.m. Robert Werner, 58, of Stewartsville, NJ, was traveling east on Old Route 22 in a 2011 Chevrolet HHR while Timothy A. Smith, 31, of Myerstown, was traveling west on Old Route 22 in a 1993 Honda Accord. Werner was attempting to run left onto Midway Rd. when Smith’s vehicle struck Werner’s. After impact, Smith’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. The impact sheered the pole off. Met Ed was notified to make repairs.
Minor injuries in two vehicle accident in Bernville
The Pennsylvania State Police report that James T. Hunter 29, of Mount Carmel, was traveling south on Bernville Road (Route 183) in a 2005 Dodge Neon and Richard L. Stoudt, 53, of Bethel, was also traveling south on Bernville Road in a 1998 Ford Explorer on Feb. 9 at 8:28 p.m. Stoudt was slowing to turn into a parking lot just south of Fourth Street in Bernville. Hunter fell asleep and rear ended Stoudt’s vehicle. The impact caused Stoudt’s vehicle to spin and come to an uncontrolled rest in the entrance of the parking lots. Hunter’s vehicle came to a controlled rest in the parking lot.
Hunter and Stoudt received minor injuries in the accident. Stoudt was transported to Reading Hospital via Western Berks EMS. Both of Stoudt’s passengers were not injured. Bernville Fire Company assisted on the scene.
